Nagoya Spicy Ramen

Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture is Japan's fourth largest city. It's home to a spicy ramen, which started at local ramen shop "Misen".

The ramen in question is often referred to as "Taiwan Ramen". But it actually isn't something you'd normally find in Taiwan. It was invented in the 1960s by a Taiwanese chef living in Nagoya. He served this spicy ramen at "Misen" and it turned out to a be a huge hit.

This instant version features the same soy sauce seasoned, chicken forward soup. It's light...but packs a good amount of spice from togarashi (Japanese chili peppers) and a special chili paste. The use of garlic also serves a reminder that this isn't your typical Japanese ramen.
